Marc Cucurella: Chelsea Signs Spanish Defender for €65m
Cucurella Completes Move to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea has secured the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion for a reported fee of €65 million.
The 25-year-old defender has signed a five-year contract with the Blues, becoming their fourth major signing of the summer transfer window after Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Cucurella, who joined Brighton from Getafe in 2021, has impressed with his performances for the Seagulls, earning him a place in the Spain national team.
He is expected to provide competition for Ben Chilwell at left-back, with the England international having missed much of last season due to injury.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is delighted with the acquisition of Cucurella, saying: "Marc is a player we have been tracking for a long time. He is a dynamic, attacking full-back who fits our style of play perfectly."
Cucurella is expected to make his debut for Chelsea in their Premier League opener against Everton on August 6.
